Time travel with Sven

During the mission I will be a Norman horseman will take part in the battle of Hastings.

29/09/1066: The mission starts

We arrived at Hastings a day ago. We are currently occupying Hastings and preparing for the battle.

13/09/1066: The day before the battle

We had time to relax but we knew that Harold‘s army was going to arrive in a day or two. We are now north of Hastings. William had already stetted us the archers where in the fist line, the foot solders where behind them and the last line we were there. I was in the middle of the last lines where the Normans and Duke William were, at my left were all the Bretons our French allies and on the right all of our other French allies.

14/09/1066: The battle

In the middle of the night we where sure that the English where here, they probably just arrived. William told us to attack now because they weren’t ready and deployed yet. When we finally found the English, we realized that we would have a big disadvantage: they were on top of a hill. The English only had foot soldiers and some archers; we had an advantage because we had cavalry. Our foot soldiers launched the first attack but most got killed because the English were throwing javelins and firing arrow down the hill. The rest got pushed away by the English who formed a shield wall. Our archers weren’t very affective; they just weakened the English front row. William ordered to attack with cavalry it was more affective. William horse was killed but we were lucking he survived. The English attacked it killed many of us but our cavalry counter attacked the killed many of the English troops. We had to do something now or we would lose. William told us to retread the English flowed us down the hill. Suddenly we turned our horses around we were faster and quickly encircled them. This technique was very affective we used it twice and we were wining now. We still had to deal with Harold which was still on top of the hill. William told the archers to aim for the back of the English troops where Harold was. Now the English couldn’t protect themselves with their shield. All we had to do is defend ourselves and hope Harold would get killed. After a lot of firing arrows we got Harold. We just defeated the English, it was a relief.

15/09/1066: After the battle

During the battle we lost about 3000 of our 8400. The English suffered a lot more they lost about 5000 of their 7500 men. It is time to go for me now .William will be crowed king of England on Christmas day.
